Training School
At the heart of Disciple Thailand Ministries is the new one year discipleship training class. It’s goal is to help them to break free from past bondage and fears and then to empower them to minister through the power of the Spirit.
Curriculum: We have two different sets of curriculum that we are going through. The first set are a series of book that I have given them to read through and then on Monday nights I teach on them as well. The second set of curriculum is 10 steps to Spiritual Maturity by Bill Bright from Campus Crusade. This curriculum does a great job of providing a foundation to understanding the basics of Christianity. We have broke the class up in to three groups with different leaders over each group. Each group meets every other week to discuss what I have been teaching and then they discuss what they have been learning in the Bill Bright curriculum. These two avenues enable the people to grow in understanding of Christ. Then on top of that each member meets with one of our leaders for personal one on one discipleship. During this time it is focused on personal issues and growth.
Ministry: During the course of this class they are doing regular witnessing and outreach. For example we have partnered up with Campus Crusade staff to go out witnessing with them to the schools. Then we also do different kinds of outreach like going to a retirement home, visiting a village, having an activity in the neighborhood for the lost etc. Then in addition to this they are encouraged about mid way through the class to find others to disciple. They are then able to take their 10 steps from Bill Bright to disciple them.
Personal Growth: During the course of the year they are also required to fast, practice solitude, memorize Scripture and do many other things. This combined with the teaching and personal discipleship by the grace of God should bring in great transformation.
Vision: The vision behind all of this is that this form of discipleship is holistic in nature. The beauty of the model is this allows for teaching in group settings, focuses on the personal aspect and is strong in application. Presently we have people in our group from Hannah House, Emmanuel house and some of our friends from outside the homes. The goal is that after the class is over many others that are impacted through those in the class will want to be apart of it and maybe even other Churches will want to adopt this model.
